This was just received at the MVGCSA office from Shane Conroy, GCSAA Field Staff - Great Lakes Region...
As you know, Illinois is now in a ‘Stay at Home’ order from Gov. Pritzker. According to reports:
Starting Saturday, March 21 at 5 p.m. CDT until at least April 7, all non-essential businesses must close and non-essential workers and those who can work-from-home are subject to the order, though, they can leave to get groceries, visit hospitals, get gas and also hike and walk their dogs.
- Governor Pritzker ran through a list of essential services and positions, including grocery stores, agricultural workers, media, veterinarians, plumbers, laundromats, road departments, banks and takeout restaurants.
Agriculture workers are identified as exempt essential services and positions. We will work with the governor’s office to find out how golf fits into this. This past Wednesday, World Golf Foundation CEO Greg McLaughlin spoke with the senior advisor to Gov. Pritzker and is reaching out again now that Illinois has a Stay at Home order.
Leann Cooper shared some resources for chapters/states/members about an hour ago. At this time, we ask that you wait for Greg McLaughlin to connect with the governor’s office before reaching out at the state level. If needed, we may need to draft additional language, and reach out again at the state association level, but for now, I’m asking we hold tight until Greg has connected with the senior advisor again.
Please reach out if you have any questions/comments/suggestions. Once I know more, I will obviously keep you all informed.
Thanks, all! Stay well.
We will continue to monitor all IL/MO golf related Coronavirus updates and forward accordingly. In addition, Steve Randall, GCSAA Field Staff - Central Plains Region has called for a Central Plains Chapter Executive meeting this coming Tuesday at 10:00 AM. I will relay any pertinent information following this teleconference meeting!
As I understand it, California golf course workers are still going to work as scheduled, on a voluntary basis.
Please stay safe and healthy and don't hesitate to call should you find any additional information that would be helpful to your fellow MVGCSA members.
