TITLE: Greens Keeper /Arnold Golf Club
GRADE/STATUS: Pay Band ($17.14 - $24.00)/Non-Exempt

The City of Arnold, Parks and Recreation Department/Arnold Golf Club is accepting applications for a Greens Keeper. The Greens Keeper is a full-time position with excellent benefits. Pay range from $17.14 to $24.00 based on knowledge and experience. Helps direct part-time employees, performs routine labor, equipment operation, repair work, involved in landscape construction, grounds maintenance work.
Applicants must have graduated from high school or GED equivalent, and a minimum of two years’ experience in a responsible maintenance position at an 18-hole golf course. Associate degree in turf management preferred or closely related field. Knowledge of tools, methods, and materials used in grounds and landscape maintenance. Ability to operate trucks, skid loaders, various mowers, and light motorized equipment. Understanding of turf grass science and the rules of golf. Must have a valid state driver's license, or ability to obtain one by start of employment.
The position will be subject to seasonal work schedule fluctuations to include weekends and special events. Regularly lift 50 to 75 pounds, stand and walk for long periods of the day.

Perform routine manual labor, equipment operation, repair work, and employee supervision involved in golf course maintenance; perform semi-skilled grounds and landscape construction and maintenance work; operate hand-powered equipment, tractors, loaders, and gang mowers.
Work under the direct supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
(A) Graduation of high school or GED equivalent, and
(B) Two (2) years experience in a responsible maintenance position at an 18-hole regulation golf course in the Missouri/Illinois region of the Midwest.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
(A) Knowledge of tools, methods, and materials used in grounds and landscape construction, landscaped area maintenance work and building maintenance and improvement.
(B) Ability to operate trucks and light motorized equipment.
(C) Basic knowledge of agronomy, turf grass science and the rules of golf.
(D) Physical strength and stamina.
(E) Mechanical aptitude.
(F) Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
(G) Working knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to irrigation system, including automatic valves and controllers and various types of pumps and pumping systems.
(H) Proven leadership capabilities.
Must have a valid state driver’s license, or ability to obtain one by start of employment.

- The work environment provides for a safe and healthy environment. It is smoke – and drug free. Occasionally, it may be wet and humid, as well as moderately loud. The outdoor work environment may result in exposure to extreme weather conditions, such as heat, cold, and humidity.
